We are supporting the community drive to sew face masks for ourselves, the vulnerable among us, and health workers. All our cotton fabrics are currently 75% off for anyone making masks, up to 3 yards at a time, also our flat elastics are 75% off. We are taking orders by phone (415) 326-5217 and delivering for FREE.
See below for our planned upcoming Zoom sewing bee where we'll be trying to make masks with our community.
Where to deliver your finished masks:
The REDWOODS in Mill Valley has requested fabric masks.Otherwise you can search online for requests.
We do not know the medical efficacy of these fabric masks.
Here are some links to mask sewing patterns and how-to videos, as well as information about who wants the masks and why:
This seems like a simple Youtube how-to:
Here's a more complex mask:

Mimia Arbelaez is a 10-year Pixar veteran, a lighting technical director who has worked on everything from Monsters University and Cars 2 to Inside Out and the studio's latest movie Coco. With BFA from her native Colombia and MFA from Academy of Art University in SF, she brings a wealth of fine art and digital art talent to our kids' classes in our new classroom area.
Once Around is offering the following FREE Zoom "craft-alongs" or "bees"; these are not formal classes, just hosted opportunities for our community to meet via Zoom with our team and each other in informal groups based around different art and craft themes. If you have suggestions or ideas for more of these, or need help logging into a session, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
TO LOG INTO A CRAFT-ALONG SESSION:
Before the session, make sure you have signed up for a FREE Zoom account at
If necessary, familiarize yourself with the way Zoom works - camera, microphone, muting and un-muting etc.
At the published time, click on the link given below. You can log in from a smartphone or computer as long as you have signed up for Zoom on the device.
Make sure your video and microphone are activated as you wish, using the Zoom tools (you don't have to activate your camera if you don't want to)
Observe Zoom etiquette throughout the meeting by not interrupting others and muting yourself if there is a lot of background noise where you are.
Remember this is NOT a class; it's a chance to spend time chatting and working on specific art and craft activities with others.
Also keep in mind this is an experiment!

Once Around is an art and craft store in Mill Valley, California. We are dedicated to supporting the creative aspirations of the local community. We know our customers have many interests and we believe that some of the most exciting creative discoveries come from experimentation, so you'll find a little bit of a lot of things, from fine art to knitting, stamping to paper craft, stationery to sewing notions.
We offer fine art materials from some of the best suppliers in the world, including Sennelier, Winsor & Newton, Fabriano, Isabey and Golden, but we also pride ourselves on offering quality products at accessible prices to encourage you to try something new. We also carry a huge assortment of art and craft-related books.
If you are on our email list, you will be the first to know about our generous periodic sales.
We offer onsite classes for adults and kids, including a free drop-in Knit Nite incorporating our very own Knitting4Peace Pod! We also host art and craft summer camps.
We order art materials for professional artists at prices that will rival or beat out online and big stores. Call us on 415.326.5217 to find out if we can source your favorite products.
And we are bringing more local products into the store, such as yarn from Black Mountain Farm in Nicasio. You can see a photo from our customer field trip to the farm here!
